Recruiting Representatives



Would you like to get involved with the Point to Point Owners & Riders Association? We're currently looking for a new Area Representative for participants in Devon & Cornwall area and a new Rider Representative in Wales.

The PPORA is a members’ organisation with the primary purpose to represent the views and interests of its members to the Point to Point Authority through the seat it holds on the PPA board. There is a committee of Area and Rider Representatives who bring together this information from across the country, collate it and relay it to the PPA board ensuring informed decision making.


We are not responsible for the running of the sport but do play a key role in its direction. We also work with the PPA and the PPSA in supporting and promoting the sport, hopefully recruiting new owners, jockeys, keepers and horses. The PPORA is financially independent, funded largely by membership income with a small amount of commercial sponsorship. It is run by volunteers and supported by part-time paid administration.


The role requires area representatives;

  • To have a visible presence at a significant amount of point to points in their area

  • Be seen regularly & approachable for people to air the views, politely discuss the future / issues that they'd like raised at Committee meetings and taken to the PPA Board

  • Encourage people to share their views with you, ask questions of your point to point community when on the point to point field, we need our members opinions

  • Provide images and/or video content from your area for social media and website

  • Provide area information abut facilities gallops, schooling and useful contacts for other people in the area, trainers/ jockeys etc.

  • Provide your time to support intiatives promoting point to pointing

  • Attend majority of committee meetings - often held at Statford Racecourse, and on Zoom.

  • Read the agenda prior to the meetings and prepare to contribute with your area's feedback

  • Contribute feedback in the What's App group or via Email

  • Ensure you're regularly communicating with your area secretaries and participants in the area to get feedback on important subjects raised at committee meetings


Rider reps (as above) plus;

  • Course walk at least twice a season in your area

  • Being open to working with and supporting first season/ inexperienced riders in your area

  • Offer advice, help provide a support network for new or young riders either via What's App or in person where possible
