Ian Chanin with Doc McCoy
PPORA is delighted to announce some changes to the committee for this coming season. Stephanie Jones has taken up the role of Vice Chair but will also continue in the role as Communications Manager, while Ian Chanin joins the committee to represent Devon & Cornwall members. Former Vice Chair, Mark Wall, continues to support the committee in an area representative role.
Ian Chanin, said; "For those I haven’t met in this wonderful sport already I was an amateur jockey and rode approximately 100 winners. Hunterchase winners and was lucky enough to represent Great Britain in the International Fegentri Series. I now train a handful of point to pointers, some of which are commercially aimed. My father has always trained point to pointers and trains mostly for owner breeders. We hunt our horses and help build our local point to point course at Dunsmore. Whilst I try and turn a profit on the occasional horse I fully understand and realise first hand how important our amateur grass routes are and the very strong link between trail hunting and holding a point to point meeting. I’m hugely excited to be asked to work with the PPORA and can’t wait to discuss important matters with our various owners and trainers be it in the lorry park whilst washing a horse off or in the beer tent!"
Charlie Poste, Chairman of the PPORA said; "It's important for the committee to keep recruiting passionate people to represent our members views all over the country. Ian comes with a wealth of experience from all areas of point to pointing particilary Devon and Cornwall, and Stephanie has already taken on a lot of the communications tasks to support the committee.
"These are all voluntary roles and we can't thank our representatives enough for the time and effort they put into supporting the sport. We've worked hard over the summer to pull together some new initiatives and communicate better with our members, we're looking forward to the season getting going and call upon all our members for feedback on any support they'd like to received."
Stephanie Jones, said; "I've enjoyed my time on the committee representing Devon & Cornwall, but I'm delighted to hand the reins over to an experienced pilot in Ian Chanin who I think will be able to generate some meaningful change in the South West for our members. As I continue in my role on the committee I look forward to working with Ian and all the area representatives to ensure the PPORA continues to improve and benefit our members."
