Harriet Tudor

Exciting novice jockey, Harriet Tudor joins us today! With a strong racing pedigree & working for a top National Hunt trainer, Harriet's set for success!

🏇How are you involved in pointing?

Currently, I am riding pointing & have been for the last 3 seasons, however, this season was my first full season due to Covid!

🏇What is your favourite aspect of pointing?

The atmosphere & being a part of an amateur sport which I think is really important when starting off.

🏇How did you get into pointing?

My grandfather & father have been involved with pointing for many years, so it has become a family affair as my mother was the secretary for our local point-to-point. My cousin James, brother Jack and soon-to-be brother-in-law Richard Patrick have all been successful in the pointing field & have been a massive support to me.

🏇What is your day job?

I work full-time for Christian Williams Racing, where I have learnt a great deal from Christian himself & his brother Nicky. After work I ride out the pointers Dad is training at home.

🏇How would you describe pointing to someone that hasn’t been before?

Pointing is a great day out for all family & friends to enjoy! It has a very welcoming atmosphere & is a fantastic way to introduce newcomers to horse racing.

🏇What’s your pointing highlight?

Riding my first winner at the Ystrad Taf Fechan point-to-point aboard Galop Du Bosc for Ed & Tim Vaughan.

🏇If you could change one thing in pointing, what would it be?

Having not ridden for many seasons as of yet, there is not much that I would change. However, it would be great to encourage past owners back into the sport!

🏇Where’s your favourite point-to-point & why?

It would probably have to be Bonvilston as that is where I rode my first winner & it’s a local track to home!

🏇What’s your earliest pointing memory?

Going pointing most weekends as a child & watching the horses Dad trained & James rode.

🏇What do you think lies for the future of pointing?

I think we need to find a way to encourage new & young people into pointing & hunting to ensure the sport can carry on!

🏇Any hobbies outside of horses?

I don’t have any hobbies other horses!

Thanks for chatting Harriet & wishing you a restful summer & successful season next year!
