It’s been a busy weekend of PPORA Race Action – headlined by the Dodson & Horrell Novice Riders Series Qualifier at the Tiverton Foxhound’s Chipley Park meeting where, in testing conditions, it was Mic’s Delight who led the way under owner-trainer-rider Jennifer Davenport for the majority of the race before a blunder gave the upper hand to Robin De Boss and Jamie Hepburn. A burst of speed then brought Jac The Legend (Bryan Carver) through to challenge, and after a dogged battle up the hill it was Robin De Boss who prevailed at the line.
There was more PPORA interest at this meeting with Area Committee Rep Kent Cumings saddling Whenharrymetsally to win the opening Members’ Race.
At Cocklebarrow Nikki Stubbs opened her account on her first ride with Kashmir Peak in the PPORA Novice Riders.
Also off the mark, though not a PPORA winner, was Louise Bannister whose 16th birthday became a day to remember when, left alone after an eventful Ladies’ Race, she staged a remarkable recovery to keep the partnership intact for first time out success at the Midlands Area Club at Thorpe Lodge.
Thorpe played host to two PPORA races with Lilbitluso back in winning form under PPORA Rider Rep Gillon Crow – the partnership just nudging ahead from Irish Anthem and Henry Crow in the shadow of the post in the Club Members’ Conditions Race. The Novice Riders’ Race here went to L’Eldorado giving Meisha Micklewright her third victory in the current campaign.
A win in for Tim Gredley and Just Cause in the North Norfolk Harriers Novice Riders’ Race saw places change at the head of the Harley Racing Novice Riders Points Series Leaderboard where Tim’s 10 points see him 2 ahead of last week’s leader Connor Brace who was out of luck this weekend taking a fall from ItchymeI’mscratch at the Heythrop.
David Brace remains out in front in the Stratford Racecourse PPORA Champion Owner award with 32 points, Tim Gredley follows on 16 with Jennifer Davenport now in clear third position with 13 points.
