Result of the South East Area PPORA Committee Representative Election

Nomination Received:  Charlotte Marshall

Proposed by:  Philip Hall             Seconded by: Cynthia Woods

As this was the only nomination received there will be no voting, and we are pleased to announce Charlotte is the new South East Area PPORA Committee Representative.

In her nominee’s personal statement Charlotte told us

“I currently train a small number (4 this year) of Point to Point Horses from our family home in Brightling, East Sussex.  We have had horses at home since 1999 and are extremely lucky to be able to use the gallops at Brightling Park.  The horses are now all owned by my husband, Fraser, and me, in partnership with our great friends Julian and Zoe Pennells.  Over the years I have trained horses for some owner-riders as well as our own, but more recently the focus has been on having horses for our children Charlie (20) and Izzie (18) to ride in races.

As a family we are passionate about Pointing.  We are fully committed to the sport both nationally and in the South East and want to see it flourish in the years to come.  It has been so disappointing to lose some great venues in the South East over recent years and I want to try to make sure that this trend doesn’t continue.  In order to achieve this we must recognise that South East Point to Point Meetings must be as profitable as possible and to that end that end they must attract runners and spectators.  I hope that I will be able to fairly represent the thoughts and ideas of the South East owners and riders so that we can provide the best possible racing for both the participants and the crowds.

I hope to bring to the role a good deal of energy and enthusiasm.  I am really dedicated to wanting Pointing to continue for generations to come as my children are so immersed in the sport.  I think most of the South East owners and riders know me (at least by sight!) and I hope that I will be an approachable and dynamic representative for the South East Pointing population?”

PPORA Chairman Robert Killen welcomed Charlotte to the PPORA Committee saying

“I am very pleased that the South East Area PPORA Committee Representative Election has resulted in such a positive outcome and will bring a new face to the PPORA.  Charlotte clearly has a huge passion for Point to Pointing and shares the PPORA’s determination to ensure that it prospers as a sport for future generations to come.  Her energy and commitment will be a valuable asset for our team and for Point to Pointing.

I am delighted that Charlotte will be joining us at the AGM and Grassroots Awards Lunch at Stratford on June 8th as this will be a great opportunity for her to meet fellow Committee Members as well as PPORA Members from around the country.”
