PPORC P2P @ Barbury Racecourse – Sunday 26th November – first race 12pm

… PPORC P2P @ Barbury Racecourse … our pre-Christmas Point to Point Owner and Rider’s Club Meeting forms part of the PPORA’s commitment to supporting and strengthening grassroots pointing

Our aim with this meeting is two-fold – to provide attractive early season racing opportunities for owners, keepers and riders and to provide an afternoon of exciting action for racegoers

As the second meeting of the season it is a taster of what the coming season may hold and attracts interest from across the country, for those who are unable to attend there will be a full meeting report on this website, and we’ll also be including a special PPORC@Barbury feature in the December edition of grassroots our new quarterly members’ newsletter

Last year’s programme of races proved popular, with an average of just over 8 runners per race, and we’ve maintained the same format for this year

…  running your horse at Barbury offers an early season opportunity to earn points for national awards and qualify for  championship finals at Cheltenham and Stratford

… the first 4 horses officially past the post in the The Dodson & Horrell PPORA Club Members CONDITIONS Race for Novice Riders qualify for the £1000 Series Final at Garthorpe on April 29th – and the first riders past the post gain an early advantage in the Harley Racing PPORA Novice Riders’ Points Series

… the first 3 horses past the post in the Mares Maiden score points for the Jockey Club Mares Maiden Series

… the winner of the Mixed Open qualifies for the Timico Mixed Open Final at Cheltenham on 4th May, AND the first two horses past the post qualify for the Skinner’s Ladies Open Final at Stratford on 8th June

… the first two horses past the post in the Intermediate are eligible for the Connolly’s Red Mills Intermediate P-t-P Championship Final at Cheltenham on 4th of May

… the first 4 horses in the Novice Riders, Club Members Conditions and 4,5 & 6 Year Old Maiden all earn points towards the Stratford racecourse PPORA Champion Owner Award

… important information Hunter Cert registration deadline for entries at PPORC … please note that the deadline for submitting  a Hunter Certificate in order to be eligible to run at this meeting is 12noon on  Friday 17th November.  The 2017 – 2018 Hunter Certificate form can be found by clicking here

… sponsorship … headlining our card is the Dodson & Horrell PPORA Club Members Novice Riders Race the first of a series of 12 national qualifiers leading to a £1000 final which this season will be hosted by the Quorn at Gathorpe on April 29th .

Also renewing their support for our event are  The Jockey Club (Mares and Fillies Maiden) and  Lambourn based Valley Equine Hospital – www.valleyequinehospital.co.uk –   who in addition to providing veterinary cover on the day will sponsor the 4, 5 and 6 years old Maiden.

… owner experience … enhancing Point to Point owner experience is one of our core aims for the coming year, and we will be working with our counterparts across the sport to find ways to achieve this goal.  At our meeting:

owners will receive entry passes for two people for every horse entered, and a free race card for every horse declared

winning owners will receive a complimentary 10 x 8 photograph of the prize giving

winning connections will be invited to join us and their race sponsors for a celebratory glass of fizz in the Club House

all owners, trainers and riders in every race will be able to choose 2 free downloadable digital images from the race from Phil Britt Photography’s PPORC @ Barbury Gallery

… novice riders … ALL 2017 – 2018 novice riders are encouraged to join a FREE course walk with Cheltenham winning jockey, and BHA Jockey Coach Mark Bradburne –  it will take place at 10.30 – leaving plenty of time for riders to prepare for the Dodson & Horrell PPORA Club Members Novice Riders Race – BUT you don’t have to ride at our meeting to take part in the course walk click here to find out more
