The PPORA Young Horse Awards are a designed to highlight the wealth of young equine talent that consistently emerges from British Point to Pointing.

All 4, 5 and 6 year old horses competing in British Point to Point races are automatically included in this competitive championship;  area winners and the national champion are announced at the PPORA Grassroots Awards Lunch at the start of June.

The 2016 – 2017 Champion National Young Horse was Chosen Lucky (IRE) owned and trained in Devon by Dean Summersby – you can read more about horse and trainer by clicking here

The owner of the National Champion receives a memento and £1000 kindly sponsored by the Point To Point Racing Company.

Area Winners are presented with a trophy as a momento of their success,  and we are extremely grateful to the sponsors who support the area level awards.

This prestigious championship is hotly contested and  regularly produces “horses for the notebook”- from amongst this year’s star performers Chosen Lucky finished  runner up in the Connolly’s Red Mills National Champion Horse contest, and Cheltenham Mati secured the Subaru Restricted Championship. Previous familiar national champions include Canon Bridge, Findlays Find, Galros Lady, Lady Myfanwy, Rumbavu, Southwester and Sybarite.
