Milo Herbert spots a chance and seizes it down the home straight in the Ledbury Intermediate!

Maisemore has not been the luckiest of tracks for  Milo Herbert – but that changed on Sunday when opportunity presented itself in the closing stages of the Intermediate Race.

“I’ve never completed here before” Milo explained, adding “my saddled slipped in a Pony Race here, and I fell at the ditch when I rode in Point to Point here.”

Sunday brought a change of fortune – when seeing Gadrose’s effort begin to falter down the home-straight Milo found a willing partner in Ballycahane who responded gamely to Milo’s question and surging home to win by half a length.

Asked if he’d realised he’d done enough as he flew past the post Milo replied “I had a good feeling I was slightly in front!”

An A’level student during the week, Milo is a former Pony Racer, he now has 6 wins to his credit “between the flags”  all thanks to a successful partnership with Ballycahane, owned by his mother Sara, and trained by Nicky Sheppard.

“That’s me out of novice company next season, so I’ll need to make the most of my remaining chances in those races this season” he said.
