We’ve updated the website to show the latest standings in the PPORA’s trio of novice rider awards.

Connor Brace , who shares top spot with Tim Gredley in the Harley Racing PPORA Novice Rider Points Series,  continues to lead the field in the Dodson & Horrell Novice Rider Award for the Wilkinson Sword where he’s  3 wins ahead of the chasing pack comprised of Callum Bickers-Price, Huw Edwards and Matt Fielding.

17 year old Huw is the latest generation of a family steeped in pointing history. His father Simon was successful between the flag and grandfather Roy was a successful NH jockey, and  his father Simon, great-uncle Gordy and great-aunt Sheila (Crow) have all achieved noteworthy success between the flags. Now in his  second full season of Pointing Huw got of the mark  in the Maiden at the Vine  & Craven where his father’s recent purchase Skyhill Allstar  led the field for the lion’s share of the final circuit before seeing off the persistent attentions of Velvet Steel from the last to the line.

Another second season rider, Matt Fieldingreturned to the returned to the winner’s enclosure at Larkhill  first return to the winner’s came at Larkhill  after the aptly named Adrenalin Flight, owned bay Matt’s employer Seamus Mullins,  came from off the pace to dispute the lead at the penultimate and was firmly in control by the final obstacle.

Owner-trainer-rider Charlotte Tailford  entered the reckoning in the Howden Novice Rider Award for the Princess Royal Trophy becoming the second woman rider under 21 to ride a winner this season when her own horse Exit Ten, who led for much of the race but was 2 down at the  last produced finishing flurry  on the flat just getting the better of Jupiters Way in the shadow of the post in the Maiden at Corbridge.
