What about  HORSES IN MULTIPLE OWNERSHIP?

For horses whose Hunter Certificate is registered in multiple names, e.g. Mrs J Brown and Mr P Smith, the owner membership requirement is satisfied provided that one of the named owners satisfies the conditions outlined above.

For horses whose Hunter Certificate is registered in the name of a syndicate / partnership name, e.g. “The Winning Syndicate (Mr A Jones)” or “The First Past The Post Partnership (Mr A Jones)”, the owner membership requirement is satisfied provided that the named person (i.e. in these examples Mr A Jones) satisfies the conditions outlined above.

I am a keeper entering a horse on behalf of an owner what should I do?

It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that membership conditions are satisfied, however, if are an Authorised Keeper and make an entry in a PPORA Club Members’ Conditions Race on behalf of an owner then please ensure that the owner is aware of the eligibility requirement – and check with them to avoid disappointment.  In the case of doubt you can choose PPORA membership when submitting on on-line entry – this will ensure that the horse is eligible to run.

We’re a syndicate what do we need to do to satisfy PPORA race eligibility requirements?

If your horse’s Hunter Certificate has been registered in the name of a syndicate e.g. “The Winning Post Partnership (Andrew Smith)”  then it is the named “lead” member who is name  on the Hunter Certificate who must satisfy the PPORA race eligibility requirements.

In the above example provided that Andrew Smith is a current member of the PPORA then the PPORA race eligibility requirements are satisfied.

Our horse has been registered in joint names, but not as a syndicate, how can we satisfy PPORA race eligibility requirements?

If your horse’s Hunter Certificate has been registered in joint names e.g. Mrs P Evans, Mr J James and Mr  R Wright then only one of people named on the Hunter Cert is required to be a current member of the PPORA in order to satisfy PPORA race eligibility requirements.

In the above example provided that either Mrs P Evans or  Mr J James or Mr  R Wright is a  current member of the PPORA then the PPORA race eligibility requirements are met.

Our horse is jointly owned and we purchased PPORA membership when registering our Hunter Cert OR when making an on-line race entry who will be the named PPORA member?

If a horse is registered in the ownership of multiple names e.g. Mr A Smith, Mr J Brown, and Mrs J Price we will allocate the membership to the first name i.e. Mr A Smith if this is incorrect please let us know

If the horse is registered under a collective name e.g. The Winning Partnership (Mrs S Evans) we will allocate the membership to the named person i.e. Mrs S Evans if this is incorrect please let us kno

Yes

I purchased a membership  less than 12 months ago, midway through the 2016 – 2017 Membership Season doesn’t that mean I am still eligible to enter / ride?

Unfortunately not, the PPORA Membership Year runs from October 1st to September 30th of the following year.  All 2016 – 2017 memberships expire on September 30th 2017

How do owner eligibility rules apply to rearranged meetings?

The owner eligibility rule specifies a deadline of 1pm on the Wednesday following the close of entries (unless otherwise specified in The Planner)

This means that if a meeting is re-arranged with “entries standing”  the deadline for an owner to become a member is 1pm on the Wednesday following the original entries closing date
