An explanation of 4 and 5 year old weight allowances 2018 – 2019
We’ve received a few queries following the PPA’s announcement regarding changes to weight allowances for 4 year olds for 2018 – 2019, and so we’ve explained what the changes mean in a little more detail below
Last season from January 1st to the end of the season, against the 12 stone base weight:
4 year olds received a 21lbs allowance
5 year olds received an allowance that decreased over the season: 7lbs in January and February – 4lbs in March and April – and no allowance from May the 1st to the end of the season
This meant the weight “advantage” of a 4 year old increased as the season progressed.
2018 – 2019 Season
For 2018 – 2019 from 1st of January to the end of the season the allowances for 4 and 5 year olds will decrease over the season however the difference between the allowances for 5 years olds and 4 year olds will be maintained at 14lbs.
