Point to Pointing is a well-established seedbed for human and equine talent aspiring to a National Hunt career.  Our sport’s success in this role has never been clearer than this year when recent “Point To Point Graduates”, riders Bryony Frost, James Bowen and Harry Cobden, have emerged as ascendant stars shining at National Hunt’s “Big Stage Saturdays” and Festival Meetings.

Our new “PPORA Point To Point Graduate Award” has been introduced to celebrate the achievements of our graduates, and to recognise the role that they play as ambassadors for our sport.

We are delighted to announce that Equine Health Centre have generously agreed to sponsor this exciting new award.

Our first winner will be announced at the 2018 PPORA Grassroots Awards Lunch.  Champion Jockey Richard Johnson, whose own race-riding career began “Between The Flags”, will present the winner with a unique memento of their memorable year.

Announcing the new award Robert Killen, PPORA Chairman, said

“As a sport we should be proud of our well-established role in the National Hunt Landscape which so successfully combines a sporting arena for the true amateur rider alongside a springboard into the professional ranks.  Our new Point to Point Graduate Award celebrates that special role.

It is fantastic to have been able to involve Equine Health Centre as new sponsors to our sport this year.  We are delighted that they have enjoyed their experience of Point to Pointing, and that they will be joining us to celebrate this season’s grassroots achievements at Stratford on June 8th

Justin Chittenden, Managing Direction of Equine Health Centre told us

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our involvement with Point to Pointing that began, at the start of this season, with race sponsorship at the PPORC Point to Point. As part of our growing interest we have also been keenly following the remarkable progression of the National Hunt jockeys, trainers and horses who not so long ago were competing in Point to Points.

We are delighted to sponsor the 2018 Point to Point Graduate Award and looking forward to meeting the winner at the PPORA Grassroots Awards Lunch”
