JANUARY COURSE FULL – A FEW PLACES ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR FEBRUARY! Category B Permit Required for ALL Amateur Rider Races at the Cheltenham Festival

The AJA have advised that the January Category B Course is fully subscribed.  

A few places remain on the February Course – this is the last chance to obtain a Category B Permit ahead of the Cheltenham Festival


The following information has been issued by the Point to Point Authority:

Information for Riders – Amateur Races at the Cheltenham Festival –  Licence Criteria
Cheltenham Racecourse have recently announced that the rider criteria for the amateur races held at the Cheltenham festival will be amended to disallow Riders with a Category A permit from riding.  Riders planning to ride at the festival should therefore prepare accordingly by applying for a Category B Permit to ride.

To obtain a Category B Permit to ride riders must complete an on-line application form and attend a 5-day course.  To be eligible for this training, riders must have had at least 15 completed rides under the Rules of Racing, or at least 20 completed rides in Point-to-Points.  Courses are held at the British Racing School in Newmarket and the Northern Racing College in Doncaster.  There are a limited number of funded places, so please make sure you book early!
