Key Regulation Changes for 2010

Regulations 72 (Hunt Meetings) and 73 (Service, Club, Association & Society Meetings) (p.98-100)

If more than one Maiden race is scheduled at a fixture, then one of them must be open to four year olds.

Regulation 74 – Four Year Olds in 4, 5, 6, and 7 Year Old 2m 4f Maidens (p.100-101)

This Regulation has been amended to reflect the provision to allow 4 year olds to run in any race for which eligibility allows, and thus no longer must win their 2m 4f Maiden before they are allowed to progress.

Regulation 80: The Course, Sub-Regulation 80(ii) (p.104)

The regulation has been amended to frame 2m 4f Maiden races for “4, 5, 6 and 7 year olds” only, thus ensuring opportunities for four year old runners in every 2m 4f Maiden race.

Changes to Appendices

Appendix F – Use of the Whip (p.143-144)

The wording relating to hitting horses with the Use of the Whip, has been amended to include “to the extent of causing a weal or an injury” as per the Rules of Racing (H9 Use of the Whip).

Appendix L - Advertising (p.150-151)

The Appendix has been expanded to allow advertising upon attendant’s jackets for those who have joined the Point-to-Point Authority’s Horse Sponsorship Scheme (HSS).

Appendix O – Body Protectors (p.154)

Along with the existing body protectors recognised in the Regulations, body protectors which conform to EN 13158:2009 will also be accepted for use in Point-to-Points.

Notes for Owners and Riders Participating in Point-to-Point Steeplechases

A4 Entries: Regulations 90-92 (p.179)

Further guidance to Owners stating that they are responsible to ensure the entry is received by the Entries Secretary before the time entries close.
